Collaboration with a School, College or University
Bedrock Learning
Bedrock Learning is an online literacy platform that supports school curricula, teaching Tier 2 and 3 vocabulary aligned with the National Curriculum. It uses the latest technology to personalise learning, identify gaps, and provide feedback, with tools to track progress and improve literacy outcomes.
While the introduction of phonics teaching across the country has been a tremendous success, it was essential for Bedrock to develop a comprehensive blueprint on how technology can support learners as they transition from phonics into comprehension and broader language acquisition and literacy development.
Since March 2024, Bedrock has partnered with Angel Oak Academy (AOA), part of the STEP Academy Trust, to generate real-world data and insight on Bedrock’s impact in a primary school setting.
The partnership focused on assessing the platform’s impact on 30 Year 4 learners, focusing on improving literacy in Science, History, and Geography. Bedrock supplied Chromebooks to support both in-school and at-home learning and supported teachers with engagement strategies.
Bedrock significantly improved reading and vocabulary for the test group, especially EAL and Pupil Premium learners. The lowest-achieving learners saw substantial gains across subjects, with marked progress in Science, Geography, and History, demonstrating Bedrock’s ability to close attainment gaps effectively.
Elementary Technology
During an independent research project to understand the impact our collaboration with a primary school is having, a pupil commented; ‘The technology makes me want to learn more’.
These magical few words sit within a much larger number of qualitative and quantitative impact and improvement metrics, in a report titled ‘A Small School with Big Ideas; an interim study of the impact of implementing digital technology throughout Keelham Primary School’.
The 38-page report, commissioned by Elementary Technology and prepared by Dr Fiona Aubrey-Smith, tracks our journey with Keelham Primary School, a small rural school on the outskirts of Bradford.
Follow the story of our shared mission with the school, exploring how technology supports resilience, sustainability, and effective education in a school – part of a Department for Education-funded initiative. A journey described by the headteacher so far as ‘nothing short of transformational’.
PowerSchool
PowerSchool and Centro Ceibal, Uruguay’s education innovation center, expanded their partnership in 2024 to launch the PowerSchool Connected Intelligence K12 platform in the country. This data-as-a-service solution centralizes educational data from various sources, enhancing decision-making and improving public policy development. It empowers Ceibal to support approximately 800,000 students by analyzing student engagement, tracking device usage, and addressing challenges like cyberbullying using AI tools like sentiment analysis.
The platform has shown measurable improvements in educational outcomes, offering insights into student performance, engagement, and addressing issues like gender disparities and absenteeism. Teachers benefit from detailed reports, enabling personalized support and early interventions. As adoption continues, PowerSchool’s Connected Intelligence is transforming how Ceibal manages data, improving both educational standards and operational efficiency in Uruguay’s education system.
Satchel
Satchel One’s partnership with Langtree School is a prime example of how bespoke EdTech solutions can transform school operations. By responding to the needs of Langtree’s staff and leadership, we developed features that improve efficiency, engage parents, and save teachers time. This collaboration has strengthened Satchel One as a product and enhanced Langtree School’s ability to deliver high-quality education and streamline administrative processes. Our work with Langtree demonstrates the tangible impact that tailored EdTech solutions can have on schools, benefiting both educators and students alike. We continue working closely with Langtree School and other pilot schools whilst developing more MIS features in 2024 and beyond.
SMART Technologies
Lumio is designed to enhance student engagement through interactive lessons, game-based activities, collaboration tools, and formative assessments, making it suitable for classroom, home, or blended learning environments. Teachers can integrate their own lessons or use ready-made resources all on a single platform. Lumio also seamlessly connects with familiar tools such as Google and Microsoft.
Christopher Pope, Head of Digital Learning at All Hallows Prep School, recognized the challenge of time management for teachers and sought ways to reclaim an hour each day. This led to exploring Lumio as a solution to streamline processes and boost productivity, allowing educators to focus on their students. All Hallows Prep, known for its inclusive and dynamic learning environment, emphasizes technology as a crucial educational tool.
The partnership began with Deputy Head Teacher Richard Kirby’s initiative to integrate Google tools, facilitating Lumio’s adoption. Teachers could quickly enhance lessons with interactive features, saving significant time. The Lumio team supported this transition with comprehensive training and ongoing assistance, fostering a collaborative atmosphere.
This collaboration transformed the educational experience at All Hallows, optimizing workflows, enriching lesson content, and creating an engaging learning environment, ultimately improving student outcomes.
Team Teach
National Star, a leading provider of specialist education, identified the need for tailored behaviour support materials for in-house Team Teach training. Resources aimed at mainstream education didn’t address the unique challenges faced by their employees and students. In collaboration with National Star, Team Teach developed a comprehensive package of behaviour support training videos and resources designed specifically for specialist settings.
This joint project was collaborative, from initial ideation through to creation and production, and featured National Star’s practitioners and students. The emphasis shifted from a focus on poor practice to instead showcasing opportunities for continual improvement and reflection. Employees and student interviews were integrated to provide deeper insights and encourage professional development.
These resources have significantly enhanced National Star’s internal training systems, reducing the ‘forgetting curve’ and fostering consistency in behaviour support. The materials are also used in all Team Teach training sessions and have been shared on a digital platform, reaching over 100,000 people annually.
This collaborative project has transformed National Star’s operational efficiency, improved employee confidence, and reframed approaches to behaviour support in special schools and beyond, positioning National Star as a leader in best practice.
The Happy Confident Company
Revolutionising Emotional Literacy and Wellbeing: A Collaboration Between The Happy Confident Company and The Park Academies Trust
The collaboration between The Happy Confident Company and The Park Academies Trust (TPAT) has transformed student wellbeing across schools through the innovative Happy Confident School program. Implemented at Red Oaks Primary and the School of Solutions, the program equips students with tools to navigate emotions, build resilience, and develop life skills. By using resources such as FEELIT, HCMtv, and journaling, students learn to articulate their feelings and manage challenges in a supportive environment.
The program’s adaptability, including customisation for Red Oaks’ Deaf unit, ensures inclusivity and meets the unique needs of diverse student groups. It also plays a crucial role in early intervention for at-risk students at the School of Solutions, enabling them to reintegrate into mainstream education with enhanced emotional literacy.
ViewSonic
Jesus College, in collaboration with the Oxford University Gaming and esports Society (OUGES) and commercial partner AFK Group, has become the first Oxbridge college to launch a dedicated esports facility.
The AFK esports Suite is located in a fully repurposed and renovated computer room in the historic Third Quad of the College’s central Oxford site. It is available to all members of OUGES and enables gamers from across the University to train for and participate in competitive esports leagues with peers at other academic institutions, as well as hosting international gaming events and conferences around esports. And we’re just basically. In addition, the space will also provide high-end computer facilities for students to participate in skills workshops on topics such as coding, CGI design and artificial intelligence technologies.
The primary goal of this collaboration was to create an esports environment where students can engage in team-based activities, develop essential digital skills, and cultivate a deeper understanding of the growing global esports ecosystem. ViewSonic provided high-performance gaming monitors and a ViewBoard interactive display to build up this suite, ensuring students have the tools they need for a competitive edge in the esports arena.
