BBC Moodboosters
BBC Moodboosters teamed up with BBC Children in Need for this new initiative to inspire primary school children around the UK to get moving and learn about their mental health and wellbeing.
A range of famous faces, including Strictly’s Oti Mabuse and Amy Dowden, Olympian Bethany Shriever, Paralympian Ade Adepitan, and presenters Dr Ranj Singh, Rhys Stephenson, Evie Pickerill and George Webster, present the videos.
Dr Ranj said, “Initiatives like Moodboosters are essential. Not only are they fun, but they also give children practical tools that they can use by themselves, with their teachers, friends, or families to help them better cope with the world around them.”
In a collaborative launch moment with Children In Need in November 2022, a suite of 40 videos for use in the classroom was launched. Then, in Feb 2023, ahead of Children’s Mental Health week, a further 10 videos specifically designed for families to enjoy at home were released.
Each Moodboosters activity can boost children’s mood by giving them the tools and skills to thrive, feel good, and help manage their emotions while supporting the primary curriculum.
The short, simple, and fun educational resources, inspirational videos, and activities are available for free at bbc.co.uk/moodboosters.
British Heart Foundation
Classroom RevivR is British Heart Foundation’s game-changing interactive tool that makes it easy and stress-free for schools to meet curriculum objectives and teach young people CPR. All they need is a mobile device and something to compress on – like a cushion or coat stuffed in a backpack – to get started.
Once connected, Classroom RevivR talks young people through the steps of CPR and provides live feedback as they practise chest compressions. They’ll also learn how to recognise a cardiac arrest, what to expect when calling 999 and how to use a defibrillator, with questions at the end to test their knowledge.
There’s no need for external trainers or specialist equipment. Classroom RevivR has been designed by the British Heart Foundation and partner Laerdal Medical with busy teachers in mind. And the good news is – it’s completely free.
